Entertainment – Disco, Band or Both?

The Evening reception is the part of the day where everyone relaxes and can enjoy the ambience of music and good company. It’s also a very important part of your special day.

Many people ask me what are the advantages of a disco?

The main advantage is that a disco will be more versatile in the music and genres they play. Discos can quickly switch to ensure a full floor. Bands play to a fixed set so flexibility is more difficult. Bands also play at quite high volume. I have found that discos are more flexible on volume levels. Discos also take up less space, and will cost less.

I have done a number of weddings where the client books a disco and band. Most recently I worked at the Hoste Arms at Burnham Market in North Norfolk. I really like this arrangement, but you need to ensure there is sufficient space for the band & disco.

Experience Matters

I’ve been a wedding disc jockey for over 30 years. I am knowledgeable on what happens at every point of the reception. I am also experienced in talking to the venue, your wedding organiser and other important people like the photographer or caterers. This is important as all parties involved need to communicate with each other. This ensures that your day will run smoothly. I cannot emphasise enough the importance of booking an experienced Wedding DJ. My view is that it takes hundreds of weddings for a DJ to be a competent Wedding DJ.

I cover all weddings including post-wedding parties.

Please remember another important thing. If you book me, you will get me to be your wedding DJ. Many agents or contractors will send you anyone who is available. Do you really want to risk your reception by letting someone who maybe a novice or unqualified DJ you event?

Ceremony & Wedding Breakfast Music

I offer both of these options.

Many clients like discrete music to be at the wedding ceremony. I can provide this both inside and outside. You select the music of your choice.

Wedding breakfast music has become very popular. It’s an inexpensive option. You specify the music. The volume remains low.

Another big advantage is that the disco is already set up and ready to go into the evening’s proceedings. This saves time and offers a seamless transition between the day and evenings events.

Another benefit of the wedding breakfast package I offer is that I provide free complimentary use of radio microphones for those important wedding speeches.

Music

The benefit of my 30 years of experience means that my music library is extensive.

No wedding is ever the same though. I love taking your requests and I accept playlists. So if you require current chart music or Motown I will have the music for all age groups. All of my music is legally sourced and paid for.

I will discuss with you the all important bride and groom’s first dance, and the appropriate timing.

Free Consultation Meeting

I offer a free wedding consultation meeting for all clients who are based in East Anglia. It’s an opportunity for me to meet you, understand your requirements and answer your questions. The objective is to work with you to ensure you have the greatest wedding ever!

Disco Lighting

Lighting is computer controlled. I use the latest LED technology. This means I can control colour, speed. brightness. I can also mix specific colours e.g. for your first dance. I would be delighted to discuss lighting options further with you.

Sound System

I will ensure that the sound system used for your wedding is appropriate. I have different systems and will make sure that it matches your requirements.

I’ll ensure that music is played at the appropriate volume. Because I use some of best speakers in the world, my sound is incredibly clear.

Mood Lighting

This gives the ‘wow’ factor for any event. Coloured Mood lighting lights up the walls in your venue giving it a different magical feeling and look. I can match your wedding scheme colours to the lighting. Clients either choose lighting for part or all the venue. These lights tend to be set up earlier in the day.

Early Set up

Wedding reception venues are very busy before the guests arrive later. Many venues prefer if space allows, the evening entertainment to be set up early. This also saves time later in the day. In my experience, I prefer if possible to set up early for marquee wedding receptions.

Confetti Canons

These are very popular indeed and create an explosion of colour (you choose the colour) at the time of the first dance for little additional cost. It creates a real ‘wow’ factor and looks fantastic on the photographs.

Safety Matters

I carry out a full risk assessment for every event.

I have £10m public liability insurance and my equipment is professionally maintained and carries Portable Appliance Testing certification.

Same Sex Weddings

I am very experienced in providing my disco for same sex weddings too. Book me with total confidence that I will use my vast experience to make your day perfect.

How Do We Book You?

At the point when you wish to proceed with the booking, I will issue a booking contract with my terms and and conditions. We both sign a copy. A booking fee of typically £50-100 is paid at that point to secure the date. The balance is payable 2 weeks prior to the wedding. If you need to alter times or anything later, we can amend the contract.

Please note that many discos do not use this system. It leaves the client very vulnerable.
