Would you book an unknown unqualified mechanic to repair your car? Maybe you will let an unqualified stranger repair your boiler? Of course you wouldn’t! Seriously, booking a mobile disco is so important. Experience is the number one factor which will make or break your party or wedding receptions. In this article I explain why DJ experience matters.
How long have you been DJing for?
I’ve been a mobile DJ for over 30 years. I’ve had the pleasure in DJing at the region’s top venues as well as village halls, Marquees and community centres. In my opinion, it takes at least 10 years of experience to be a competent wedding and function DJ. During that time someone would build up knowledge of all types of functions, events and music. Usually the level of experience will be self-evident on someone’s website and should be discussed at a face to face meeting.
Are you Reliable?
Yes. I always ask for a deposit and all customers receive a bookings contract giving you 100% peace of mind.
Unfortunately each year, I hear stories of DJ’s letting people down, usually at the last moment.
Can we meet you?
If possible I would strongly recommend a meeting. I offer this to at no cost to all prospective clients who live locally. Skype or Facetime calls are good alternatives too. Why meet? Well, firstly it gives you the customer a chance to meet me and ask me questions. Secondly, It’s an opportunity for me to find out more about your party or wedding and for me to use my experience to ensure the package which I offer you is right for your special occasion.
Meeting your DJ is also your opportunity to decide whether he/she is the right person to DJ your event.

Isn’t a Disco just a Disco?
No. I can offer you a number of bespoke packages and solutions for your event. Examples include, early set-up options, Mood lighting to match your colour scheme giving you the ‘wow’ factor. I will also adapt the disco to suit you and your venue. For example, I can select the lighting colour for the Bride and Groom’s Wedding First Dance. I will also ensure that the sound system which I will use is appropriate for your event. Many discos are unable to offer flexibility with their sound system. With me, I can cater for small parties right up to 300 person events, ensuring crystal clear sound.
My clients are always in charge of the level of volume. The level will always suit you.
Will your DJ be suitably dressed? Again an experienced DJ will be discussing your wishes. Jeans and trainers won’t be acceptable at a wedding, but maybe ok at teenagers party.
Music
Everyone wants to a full dancefloor all night long!
I fully welcome your requests and playlists. I will also use my experience to ensure that the dancefloor remains full.

All age groups?
Highly experienced DJ’s such as myself will be able to communicate with and play music to all age groups. It doesn’t matter if you are 1 or 91, I’ll be playing your to get you dancing! An inexperienced DJ is likely to be lost playing to a diverse range of ages.
Safety
A very important area to consider.
All experienced Discos must be fully insured including Public Liability Insurance. This is usually compulsory at hotels and village halls, who will frequently ask for evidence. Many DJ’s will cut corners, so please always ask for evidence of insurance to avoid problems later.
Portable Appliance Testing known commonly known as PAT is highly recommended, and again happy venues will ask for evidence.
Risk assessments should also be carried out. For example minimising potential trip hazards.
Experienced mobile discos should also provide clients with Terms & Conditions with a booking contract. This forms a legal binding contract giving you the customer total peace of mind.

Prices
I offer outstanding value and experience for your event.
Prices generally start from £275 for an evening event.
I would strongly recommend avoiding the cheapest disco you come across. People are cheap for a very good reason, and it’s usually due to lack of experience or cutting corners.
